• Education – Assisting children and communities in the funding of scholastic education for those in need
• Water Resource – Providing assistance for communities without proper water resources
• Economic Development – Helping communities to help themselves by providing resources for producing a supplemental income

A Brief History

In late 2004, Jason Powers and Ghani Zaman, both photographers, met in Kolkata for a photography tour to North East India. These two became acquainted with the substantial needs of villagers in northeast India while trekking through the region over the next three weeks.

In particular, one small village in Nagaland had a powerful impact on Mr. Zaman and Mr. Powers. Upon arrival, they were informed that they were the first foreigners to visit that village since the late 1880's when a missionary, Dr. E.W. Clark, came to the area.

Despite their evident needs of the village, the warmth and welcome the residents provided to these foreign guests has made a lasting impression. Over the next year Ghani Zaman and Jason Powers, began talks about the potential to help this village and launched the North East India Project.
