Water Resource Development

The village has a population of around 1100 people living in roughly 250 homes. Out of these homes, only 15 of them have rain water harvesting facilities for storing rain water. This storage will typically last the owner 3 to 4 months after the 5 month monsoon season. Due to poverty, most of the village is unable to store the rain water.

The only other source of clean water in the village is a spring, 1000 feet in elevation below the village. The way to get the water up to their homes is to carry it on their backs in large, long bamboo. It is a job designated for the women of the village.

The Plan: To provide a sustainable system of water supply for the village. We hope to have this portion finished by 2009.
